Brandy walked in slowly, and waited for Survivor to catch up. She looked aroung the territory and nickered happily. The clear water flowed over the rocks, grass grew lush and trees offered shade every now and then. Its beautiful she muttered

Survivor broke into a slow lope and caught up to Brandy quickly. He smiled as he looked around. He nuzzled her and said, "Shall we stay here?" He loved it immediatly.

Survivor nodded and nickered. He ran into the center of the clearing and reared, bugling to everyone and anyone near that this was his herd. His heart beat faster as he thought about what was happening. This was what he'd always dreamed of; having his own herd, with a beautiful mare by his side. He landed softly and grinned at Brandy. He flipped on his back and rolled, grunting happily.

Brandy giggled, but she wasnt as happy as she should be. She was going to have a foal and it wasn't Survivors. She thought of hurting herself so it would die, but she wasnt that cruel. She would raise the foal, and if Survivor wanted to help that would be his choice.
So what shall we call the herd? she asked, lying down next to Survivor

-sure
Survivor flipped over so he wasnt on his back. He nuzzled her again. "Shadowherd," he said, looking thoughtful. "I like that." He nudged her belly. He would take care of the foal as if it were his own, he promised himself.

Brandy's belly was large now. She snuffled through the grass, then felt a pain in her stomach. without caring if it was a false alarm, she nickered urgently to Survivor and cantered out the terra, before her water broke and she was lying on the floor...

Survivor trotted in and whinnied, shaking his chiseled ebony head, mane flying. He turned and reared, dancing in a circle on his hind legs. His eyes glistened as he waited for his family to join him.

Brandy, galloping up, her white mane swirling and whipping in the wind, followed by her leggy chestnut colt, entered Shadowherd Creek. Brandy halted but when Firenze tried he continued to slide until he fell on his side. He got up, shook and trotted over to Brandy to nurse.

Survivor smiled and trotted down to the creek to continue his exploration of the herdland. He dipped his nose into the water and took a long drink. He looked himself over, then plunged in, letting the water wash over him, clearing off the blood and dirt from his hooves and coat.

Brandy pointed her ears towards Survivor then groomed Firenze with her teeth. All was calm, all was gentle. Nothing could go wrong could it? Well that was just tempting fate...

Warrior galloped in, sliding to a stop. The wind made his long mane and tail billow and he frowned as he looked at Brandy with a foal. Survivor stepped out of the creek and shook his coat dry. Luckily, it didnt get fluffy, but lay silky smooth. Warrior turned his gaze to the black stallion and whinnied, trotting down to him. The two dipped their heads in greeting to each other. Warrior had a strange look on his face.
