Nightmare froze, his ears pointed towards the horizon. Only a few months back he had been proclaimed dead when really he had escaped into the wilderness. He had seen Necromancy, what used to be all his, now divided into herds. Moonherd perished.
And now he was back, searching for his long lost companions.

Bell stood, her figure well defined against the sky, her nostrils quivering as she held her head high, taking in a scent she knew so well, and hadn't felt for so long. She whinnied, rearing, striking out with her forelegs, before settling and standing steadily, letting the smell wind through her mind till it she remembered who it was...

Thunder snorted, shaking his head slightly. He'd been claimed to be dead twice, and now he was back. Thunder was good at lying, he'd been doing it for most of his life. He was good at making others believe what wasn't true. He wasn't proud of it, but there it was. So he wasn't dead. Not yet. Thunder snorted as he walked, looking over at what used to be Moonherd. Then he stopped, a familiar scent in his nose. Thunder craned his head to look at Nightmare. His leader. His eyes widened, his breathing slowed.

Nightmare flared his nostrils and stood still. Bell? He backed up slightly when he caught wind of another familiar scent.. Thunder?! This was crazy. He leapt forwards into a brisk canter and slid to a stop. "Belladonna? Thunder? Or am I hallucinating?"

Bell knew another horse was near, before she smelt him, her closed eyes flashing open, burning with a black flame. She reared again, flashes of her lost foal shooting across her otherwise blind eyes. She struck out forcefully, her echoing whinny sounding like a scream as she seemed to take on another personality.

Thunder snorted once more, looking to his leader. He bowed his head and sighed. Yes, Nightmare, it is I, Thunder his voice was cracked, the aging taking only his tone of voice. Thunder lifted his head and then blinked, looking around. He could smell Bell. And then he saw her. Thunder reared up in surprise when she struck out, whinnying loudly.

Nightmare watched the two horses, wisdom flashing in his eyes. "Friends, don't fight. We're past our prime and new generations have taken over" he paused to catch his breath. He had only talked ocassionally to himself as he wandered the lands "We are the originals. Why fight?" he dipped his head to his two old friends

Bell glared at first Nightmare, then Thunder.
"Because the new generation is gone, because of him." She spat, her burning gaze still set on Thunder. Her heart longed for Panic, a deep aching in her chest that built as the days went by. She held herself still, though the slightest hitch and she would be quivering, barely able to stand. Pain in her heart wasn't helping her age issues.

Thunder snorted, but listened to Nightmare for a moment, until Bell's gaze burnt into him. He looked at her, his eyes blazing. What?! How was this his fault? He'd died. How..could it be..It couldn't be his fault. Thunder glared at her, the anger flaring in his eyes. Can you please tell me how on earth this is my fault?! the anger was there in his voice, still blazing in his eyes. Stupid mare.

Nightmare reared up almost vertically, his eyes burning with a new rage. "Will the pair of you stop fighting?" he snarled, landing and snaking his neck out to nip both Thunder and Bell's neck. His ears lay flat against his skull.
Panic pranced forwards lightly, his neck arched. He froze when he saw Bell in the distance and his heart skipped a beat. He let out a low neigh and then snorted, trotting forwards

Bell heard Panic, his scent intoxicating her as she wheeled round, not even bothering to kick Nightmare as she shot forwards. Her ears pricked, her face alight in a way it hadn't been for so long. She broke into a canter from her excited standstill, her white legs moving faster and faster to a beat that never broke rythm, before they snapped straight, sliding to a halt in front of Panic, her nose softly touching his.

Thunder watched her and then looked at Nightmare. He snorted, and then sighed. Sorry he mumbled, turning to watch Bell and Panic. Horrible. So.. Ugh. Thunder rolled his eyes and then trotted around to face his leader. His eyes were no longer blazing, but curious. Where have you been, Night? Everyone believed you were dead of course, Thunder couldn't talk.

Panic snorted at Bell and nipped her shoulder playfully "I missed you" he whispered, nuzzling her neck and standing with perfect posture as if to show off his handsome-ness (eh? xDD)
Nightmare looked at Thunder and snorted, dropping his muzzle to pull at the blades of grass as he considered the answer to this question "I've been... places." he pawed at the ground with his hoof "I missed my friends. I missed my mares. I missed home"

Bell didn't know what to do. She'd often thought about it, but her ideas had changed so many times: nothing had ever been good enough for Panic. She nudged him gently, unable to speak. Too many words choked her, so she decided that no words was better.

Thunder tilted his head to the side slightly. He watched his leader eat, and then listened to his answer, his ears pricked. Hm he said. Home isn't very.. Thunder looked around. It wasn't home anymore. Not really. .. Homely he finished and then sighed.
