The stockmen dragged the colt into the small paddok. The tall one toke the colorful feathered darts out of the colt's neck and hind quarter. The long-haired one untied the ropes on the black and white colt's neck, then he untied the several ropes that tied his legs together.

The long-haired stockmen toke the ropes and put them up on the fence, while the other one put the darts in a rusty barrel. Both of them climbed the fence and walked into their little cottage.
Hours later Mystery blinked open his eyes, getting a fuzzy vision, then a clear one. There were rope burns on his legs and neck. Slowly, he got up, feeling horrible. He stretched out his legs, yawning. Looking around, he noticed a tall, wood line was surrounding him. He snorted loudly, walking closer to the line. He touched it barely with his muzzle, then crowhopped sideways. Confussed, he touched it again, thinking it wasn't gonna hurt him.

Mystery turned around, seeing a little box shelter connected to the small rectangular wood line. He slowly approached close to it. Once inside, he found some warm marsh in a plasic bucket and water in another. Sniffing the mash, he made a funny face. A sudden noise made him bolt to the other side of the small paddock. He turned around to see where the noise came from. A reddish/brownish, white, Paint filly was kicking at the bords of her shelter. He walked slowly, to where the wood line stopped and walls formed. "Hello?" He said, to the small horse.
Sadie stopped pawing at the bords and turned around. Her ears flickered back and forth, walking over to this new horse. "Hello! I'm Sadie!" She said, cheerfully. "I'm Mystery. Where are we?" He asked, looking around again. "Oh, your in a paddock and we are on a very small horse farm. "I was born here, but they hauled my mother away in one of those fancy moving boxes. This is my first day without her and I'm kinda mad at them." She said, poking her head through the wooden fence. Mystery stepped back a step, "Who? Why did they haul her off?" He asked, curiously. "The masters, and I don't know why...I heard one of the other horses talking about my mother being sold?" She tilted her head sideways. "Oh, well, it was nice meeting you. How do I go back home?" He asked. "Where do you live? I mean which paddock?" She asked.
"I don't live in a paddock. I live in the wild, in Sunherd." Mystery said. "The WILD?! Wow! That's amazing! Tell me what it's like!" Sadie said, excitedly. Mystery smiled, then told every little detail since he was born and when he was taken here. "Wow, your very brave." She smiled. "Yeah, I guess I am, but it runs in the family." He said, smiling back. "Oh, well, your happy you weren't born here. I was born in a closed box stall, it was really cramped. They put my mother and I in this stupid thing and they hauled her away! But before that, they put this net like thing on my head with a long stick looking thing on it. I stepped on it and everything, it sucked. I think it's called a halter? Well, anyways my mother had this big leather thing on her back once and thin leather lines on her head. The tall master got on her back and rode her around in that corral over there." Sadie said, pointing her muzzle towards the wooden circle. "Wow, we must escape at once!" Mystery said, then reared up in the air. "No, we can't, I've already tried. They are very powerful." Said warned him.

Mystery sighed, then looked at Sadie, noticing something on her rump. "Uh, Sadie? What is on your hind quarters?" He asked. "Oh, that. The masters toke this really hot stick with markings on it and pressed it against my rump. It really hurt, but its fine now." She said, simply. "Wow, it sounds hurtful." He said, looking at the weird markings. Sadie nodded, "Well, you better eat, that is all you get for one day, except if you have an surviving grass in your paddock." She said, pointing to the mash. "Yuck, that is what we eat?" She nodded, slowly, "Well, you get use to the taste, it isn't that bad." She said, then walked into her shelter, starting to eat her mash. Mystery scrunched his nose, then looked at the mash. Soon he ate it all up.

Mystery turned to the water bucket, taking one big gulp. "I guess we are friends now, right?" He asked, her through the wall. "Yeah! Best friends!" Sadie said, trotting into view, poking her head through the fence. "Ok then!" He smiled, prancing in his small paddock. Sadie giggled, "Well, It's getting late. I'm gonna hit the hay! Good night, Mystery and if you need anything just call my name!" Sadie said, cheerfully, then walked back into the shelter, leaned against the wall that was separating her and Mystery, falling fast asleep. Mystery nodded, then laid down where he was in the open, falling asleep as well.

The next few days they both became to know eachother very good. One day, Mystery woke up, finding Sadie nowhere in sight. He jumped up, then shoke his dusty coat. His ears flickered back and forth as he heard a horse whinny in pain. He looked over at the corral, seeing Sadie being hit with long stick that cracked, whenever it hit her. He snorted, eyes turning red. He galloped, towards the end of the paddock, trying to jump over the fence, but he couldn't. Instead he loped around the paddock, neighing violently. The stockmen cracked their long lounging whip on Sadies hind quarters. She had a halter on her small head, then a lounge line hooked to it. She snorted, bucking out at the man. She reared up in front of him, but he just hit her with the whip. She groaned in pain, then did what he wanted her to do.

Mystery heard the cracking stop and looked over at the corral. The stockmen were leading Sadie through a fenced in run-way that led from the corral to her paddock. Mystery poked his head through the fence, trying to bit one of the humans, but the one closest to his paddock, smacked him in the muzzle. He fell over backwards, scared of the sudden movement and the sting on his nose. The long-haired stockman unbuckled Sadie's halter and let her loose, then closed the gate from the run-way.
Mystery got back up, poking his head through the fence, trying to smell Sadie's coat. Sadie's eyes were dull and she had fear shaking through her body. "Sadie? Are you alright?" He asked, softly. Sadie didn't smile, just looked at him. "Mystery, no, I hurt, that whip stings like crazy..." She trailed off, "Mystery, do me a favor, whenever you go in there, don't put up a fight, you won't get whipped as much." She said, then laid down in her shelter. Mystery put his face back into his paddock, then felt something go around his neck. It was a rope. The long-haired master swirled another rope above his head, then threw it onto his neck also. Mystery reared up high in the air, then landed hard on the ground. The stockmen let go of the ropes, then one of them came around the colt with a whip. The other one opened the gate to the run-way to the corral.
The one with the whip cracked it on the ground, which made Mystery lunge forward into the run-way and into the corral. The human holding the gate quickly closed it, then ran down the run-way to close the other gate. The other stockman with the whip came over to the corral, smiling. "We'll leave that wild thing in there for a few days without food or water." Then he walked off to the cottage, as the other one followed. Sadie looked up, sighing at Mystery, shaking her head slowly.

The next three days Mystery ran around the corral none-stop. He looked over at Sadie nibbling at a lone flower in her paddock, smiling. "At least she is not being beaten right now.." He said quietly, snorting loudly. He felt another rope go around his neck, then reared up in the air. A dart shot into his neck, making him a little dizzy, then he fell to the ground. When he woke up, he was in his paddock with something on his head and a line hanging from it. Shackles were on his legs which made it hard to get up. He struggled for hours, finally getting up. Sadie poked her head through the fence, "Poor you, I never had to have shackles on my legs." She said, staring down at them. Mystery sighed, walking very slowly into the shelter to eat his warm marsh, stepping on the lead rope trailing on the ground, making his head pull backwards.

The next day the tall master toke him to the corral again, leading him on the lead rope. Mystery gave a strugge, pulling back hard against the rope, but he got whipped on the hind quarters by the long-haired master, so he followed th tall one, slowly, being he had the shackles on still. Once in the corral, the long-haired man toke the shackles off, leaving rope burns on the colt's legs. Sadie watched from her paddock, hoping he wouldn't give a fight. The colt's legs burned, but he did nothing. He really wanted to run the men over, but he didn't. His powers were totally gone, so was his devil self...

The stockman lead the tall colt around the corral, then hooked the long line to the halter. He grabbed the long whip, then swatted it on the colt's back, making him kick out at the man, kicking him in the gut. The man grunted, stepping in the middle of the corral, then whipped the colt's back again. Mystery whinnied, then reared up in the air, kicking his legs out. Sadie's words rang in his mind. "Don't fight them, just do what told." He nodded his head, landing on the ground. The man swatted the whip on his hind quarters this time, and the colt loped around the corral. The man stopped swatting him, then lead the colt back to the paddock, not taking the halter off though. "Your now tamed, wild thing." The tall stockman said, closing the gate, walking into his cottage.

Sadie poked her head through the fence, "Good job, Wild Thing! You held in your anger, now all I have to do is do the same thing.." She trailed off, blowing up, making her little forelock stick up. Mystery laughed, "Wild Thing? I like that!" He smiled, "Where did you get your name?" He asked her. "Oh, they named me Sadie, but my real name is She's My Clementine, but I like Sadie better." She said, smiling. "Mine's A Cloudy Day's Mystery. Wild Thing soots me!" He smiled, then itched his little head on a wooden post. "I like it too.." She trailed off, putting her head back into her paddock, then she laid down.

Over the past year Mystery was worked around the roundpen, being whipped even though he hadn't done anything wrong, but he was use to it. One day, the tall stockman lead him to a little shed thing, tied him on two ropes, each on both sides of him. An iron shape that was burning red, steaming got put onto his hind quarters. It had ~WILD THING~ with squiggly things like Sadie's marking. It hurt like crazy, and he kicked his leg out, but they got the hot iron on his rump and he had a manmade marking. Once he got back to his paddock, he was restless. Sadie snorted, "Did it hurt?" She asked, knowing it did. "Just a little." He said, sighing. "Oh, it says my name on it, so yours must have your name on it!" He said, then fell asleep. Sadie giggled, smiling down at the colt.

It has been two years since Wild Thing had been at the camp. He was tall as his father now and still growing. He had many scars on his body from being whipped so much. Rope burns covered his legs and neck. His mane was shaved very short as was his tail. All of his white markings became dull and washed out. He was ran around the corral for at least an hour a day, so he was skinny, but had pure muscles. He had been broke to be ridden already, even though he was too young to be. He broke over 5 saddles, bucking, rearing, rolling, everything you can think of doing to a saddle, he did it. Finally, he gave up and toke the saddle. For the bridle, well..he did not like that at all! He fell over backwards, tried to spit it out, scratch it off on a post, but failed. Soon he gave up on that as well. For now, he was in his paddock sleeping beside Sadie's.
Sadie's white and brown splashes had also dulled and washed out. She was so skinny you could she her ribs, but like Wild, she had pure muscles. Many scars also, but no rope burns. Her mane and tail was also shaved, even though she was a filly. Somehow though, Wild seemed to find her still attractive. Sadie heard pounding and looked up slowly. She poked her head though the fence and nudged Wild. Wild looked up, "What?" He asked, sleepily. "A new horse. The first one since you." She said, shaking her coat. Wild was about to say something, until he heard the gate open to his paddock. He jumped up, then stood still. The tall man hooked the lead rope to his torn up halter and lead him through the run-way to the corral.
"Okay, you stupid wild beast, lets see what ya do today." The stockman said, tieing the horse to a post, then threw a rough looking saddle pad on Wild's back and then a heavy, leather saddle. The tall man cinched it up, then put the rusty bit in the horse's mouth, slipping the thin leather over his head. Wild snorted softly, his head low, eyes dull. The tall man put his foot in the metal rectangular, sturrup, swinging his leg over on the other side. Wild head shot up as he felt the man on his back and tug at the reins, connected to the bit.
The man had sharp spinning things on his boots, that kicked at my side like mad. I tried everything, bucking, rearing, falling over backwards, but he got thrown off and got back on. I was huffing and puffing, hoping he would give up, but no he didn't. After hours of this, I gave up. The tall master patted my neck, then wheeled me around to the post. My sides were bleeding from the sharp spurs digging in my sides. They were not like regular spurs, but very sharp ones. He jumped off, then untied the cinch, threw the heavy saddle and old saddle pad on the ground, dust flying everywhere. The rusty bridle made my tongue feel scratchy and I had a nasty taste in my mouth. Finally, he toke the bridle off, as I licked my dry lips. He lead me back to my paddock, bleeding from my sides. Once he closed the gate to go in his little cottage, I walked slowly over to my water bucket, toke a long refreshing drink, slowly taking in the liquid, so my sides wouldn't hurt as much.
- Wild Thing
Sadie nickered softly, "You shouldn't of fought him, I didn't, so I didn't get bleeding sides like you." She said, then went into her shelter. Wild turned around, then snorted at the white stallion. "Hello. We've tried a looongg time ago, no use, Buddy. I'm Wild Thing and that is Sadie. We only get fed once a day with that nasty warm marsh and only get watered once a day, so don't waste it. The less you fight the master's the less you get beat. As you can tell, I didn't follow that. Oh yeah, sorry, who are you?" He asked, head low, eyes dull.

Wild snorted, then turned his attention to Sadie. "Sadie, I have a feeling today is the day we escape. The masters are planning on riding me and you outside of the corral today, I'll throw one off and help you. We will free that white horse and not the snobby ones." He said, smiling. "Wild! Really?! Wow! I can't wait!" Sadie smiled back.
The long-haired stockman opened the gate to the run-way and corral, then came into the stallion's paddock. He got the long whip, that cracked. He swung the whip and hit the stallion's hind quarters several times, until it moved. Once the horse was in the run-way, he closed the gate to it's paddock. He whipped the horse some more, as it came into the corral, the tall master closed the corral gate. "Leave the beast in there like we did that young 'en there." He said, pointing to Wild. The long-haired master nodded, as they went inside their cottage.

The tall master came out of his little cottage with the sharp spurs on again. He walked over to my paddock, opened the gate, then walked to me. Hooking the lead rope to my torn up halter, he led me out of the paddock to the little shed they marked me at. He tied me up to the two ropes again, then put the old saddle pad on my back, following the heavy leather saddle. He grabbed the bridle, slid the rusty bit in my mouth, then slipped the leather lines over my ears. He yelled at the other master, "Go get that filly!" He commanded, then walked me over a hitching post by the corral. As he was tieing me to the post I looked at the white stallion in the corral. When the tall master left I snorted. "Hello." I said, eyes dull.
- Wild Thing
The long-haired master came into my paddock with the long rope that hooked to my halter. I followed him through my paddock gate and into the shed. He threw the dusty saddle pad on my back, along with the light nylon saddle. He toke the bridle and put his fingers in my mouth, making me gag, so he slid the bit in my mouth. He slipped the headstall over my ears. He yelled something at the other master, then lead me over to Wild. He tied me up on the hitch post and left. I looked at Wild, smiling, I've never been this close to him before.
